New iPhone to Get Camera Upgrade

April 3rd, 2009

Accoring to market sources in Asia, OmniVision has acquired an Apple contract to supply a 3.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor for use in Apple's next-generation iPhone. This is a nice step up from the iPhone's current 2-megapixel sensor, making for some superior quality photos. Reports also say that the company will supply a 5-megapixel image sensor for Apple aswell, should this be for the iPhone is undetermined. While this report is unconfirmed by Apple themselves, it's safe to say the iPhone's current camera has room for improvement and won't be overlooked by Apple. As for a next-gen pink iPhone, there's no word yet. We'll keep you posted.
