Well the WWDC is here and as predicted, the new iPhone has been announced. The newly named iPhone 3G S packs a punch with data speeds up to 7.2Mbps (HSDPA) and a crisp new camera sporting a 3 megapixel chip and tap-to-focus feature. A widely hoped for add-on, 30fps VGA video recording, has also been included with editing features. Another promising feature is the more reliable battery offering 5 hours of talk time and 9 hours of WiFi life. New iPhone to Get Camera Upgrade

Accoring to market sources in Asia, OmniVision has acquired an Apple contract to supply a 3.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor for use in Apple's next-generation iPhone. This is a nice step up from the iPhone's current 2-megapixel sensor, making for some superior quality photos. Reports also say that the company will supply a 5-megapixel image sensor for Apple aswell, should this be for the iPhone is undetermined. While this report is unconfirmed by Apple themselves, it's safe to say the iPhone's current camera has room for improvement and won't be overlooked by Apple. As for a next-gen pink iPhone, there's no word yet. We'll keep you posted.

This June will mark the 2-year anniversary of the iPhone, which means all 2-year contracts purchased at the iPhone's launch will expire. It's almost expected of Apple to release a new version of the iPhone at this time, because who wants to renew a contract for an old phone?
